Opening doors to a brighter future.

We wholeheartedly dedicate ourselves to making a profound and positive difference in the lives of young people. We aim to uplift and empower them through programs that nurture the essential skills required to pave the way for a brighter future.

In the UK, numerous young individuals face difficulties in acquiring vital life skills crucial for their education, careers, and overall well-being. Our aspiration is to bring about a lasting transformation in the face of this continually evolving challenge, ensuring that every young person can flourish and lead a happy, healthy life.

Essential skills

Essential skills hold the key to opening the doors of knowledge in the classroom, nurturing academic excellence, resilience, and self-confidence. They not only diminish the risk of unemployment but also elevate lives with their incredible power to enhance overall well-being and life satisfaction.

However, the access to these invaluable skills is not distributed equitably. This inequality hampers social mobility, productivity, and well-being for many. We believe that every individual, at every stage of their life’s journey, should be offered the opportunities to cultivate these essential skills, thus paving the way for a brighter and more inclusive future for all.

We believe that everyone should have access to the learning the following essential skills. Click on the icons below to learn more:

We've helped hundreds of young people

This year the Billington Foundation will help over 400 young people providing practical support and opportunities for personal development.

I was always so afraid that I would amount to nothing. You saw me, you saw my case and you listened.
A big thank you! The grant me and my child very kindly received, it has made a big difference to both children and myself.
I can never put into words how thankful as a family we are, we can finally communicate rather than shout at one and other and my children not only have friends come round but ask to have friends stay over.
The grant allocated to pay for my course fees. I would not have been able to attend college in the first place if not for that.
He got a leading role in the school musical and made new friendships from the musical. I think his friendship circle improved and this contributed to him wanting to attend school more and do well.

We are committed to working hand-in-hand with a diverse network of essential skills partners, each dedicated to delivering a range of programs aimed at equipping young people with our eight core essential skills required for success now and in the ever-evolving future. Our collaborative approach emphasises continuous growth, both in the number of valuable partners we engage with, and in our own capacity to develop and deliver innovative Billington Foundation programmes. Together, we strive to empower young individuals to thrive in an ever-changing world, enhancing their opportunities and ultimately their lives.

In 2024, we will be working with selected partners to deliver engaging alternative education programmes for young people struggling to thrive in a traditional classroom-based setting. We have many exciting plans, which we will update on regularly.

The first two major projects are The Nest at Ufton Adventure in Newbury, Berkshire and the Future Bound project at the Endeavour centre in Sheffield.

Each of these projects gives groups of young people the opportunity to engage in learning in different ways – from outdoor activities to personal development skills such as leadership, creativity and listening.
